And in Other News...Union loses parking caseThe Industrial Relations Court has dismissed the Public Sector Association’s claim that the Department of Health had breached it Enterprise Agreement by introducing or increasing car parking fees for staff at metropolitan hospitals. The PSA saw the fees as reducing the take home pay of its members but the Court did not agree. The full bench recommended that implementation of its decision be delayed however to allow the PSA time to consider an appeal to the Supreme Court. New bridge for Riverbank Engineering firm, Atkins has been appointed to undertake detailed modelling to guide the design and construction of the new Riverbank bridge across the Torrens. The bridge is part of the Master Plan for the Riverbank Precinct and should be constructed by the end of 2013. Design-led consortia are also being sought to register interest in the design of the pedestrian bridge. It is the second outbreak this year and a 1.5 kilometre quarantine area has been declared around the detection site, including the suburbs of Ottoway, Gillman, Wingfield, Athol Park, Pennington and Rosewater. Police station opened The new Yalata Police Station has been officially opened. The Yalata Aboriginal lands are 200 kilometres west of Ceduna, near the Great Australian Bight and the new, purpose built police station is located on the corner of Yalata Access Road and Oak Valley Bypass Road. Town committee for Andamooka A Town Management Committee has been formed for Andamooka. Established by the Outback Communities’ Authority (OCA), the new committee will guide the future growth of the largest community in the Outback.
